TRAVIS COUNTY DEMOCRATS FILL EVERY SEAT ON THE PRIMARY BALLOT AND RECRUIT RECORD NUMBER OF PRECINCT CHAIRS
Despite a Supreme Court ruling on December 4th which scrambled Congressional maps and forced Travis County to redraw 1/3 of its precinct maps, by the end of filing period for the March Primaries, the Travis County Democratic Party (TCDP):
Filed Democratic candidates in every single seat in Travis County for the March primary, including candidates for County Commissioner, State Representative, judicial offices, and for countywide races.
Filed a record number Precinct Chair candidates for the 2026-2028 term.
Attained a record number of current Precinct Chairs at 218. TCDP Chair Doug Greco appointed 52 new Precinct Chairs over the past 5 months, who were then ratified by the County Executive Committee.
TCDP Chair Doug Greco, who was elected this June said, “We have unprecedented energy from Democrats to win up and down the ballot in 2026, and the strength of this slate of candidates and grassroots leaders allows us to now focus on defeating Republicans in the fall and getting statewide Democrats elected.”
Compared with a statewide average of about 50% of precincts having current chairs, Travis County Democratic Party has over 75% of its precincts filled. Precinct chairs are the duly elected neighborhood representatives of the party. TCDP also ends the year with a surplus of nearly $200,000.
