Doug Greco
County Chair

Doug Greco believes there is no more urgent work than organizing to elect Democrats at every level of government. With 25 years of experience as a political organizer, he has spent his career fighting on behalf of marginalized communities. As Republicans across the country—led by Trump, Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton—work to undermine democracy and enrich themselves, Doug is stepping up to lead the fight locally. He also extends his deep gratitude to outgoing Chair Pooja Sethi for her dedication and service, acknowledging the hard work and heart it takes to lead a county party. Doug looks forward to working with every member of the party, because the work ahead is too important to leave any voice out.

Doug grew up in a coal town in Eastern Pennsylvania, the son of a high school coach and a school secretary. Recruited to Brown University through football, he later moved to Austin to teach at Johnston High School before fully committing to organizing. Doug has led local and statewide campaigns through Central Texas Interfaith and Equality California, and as Executive Director of CTI for 12 years, he helped build it into a multi-county powerhouse. He also served as Chief of Staff for State Rep. Gina Hinojosa and earned a Master’s in Public Policy from Princeton. Throughout his career, he has fought for better wages, fewer corporate tax breaks, and equal rights for the LGBTQ community, of which he is a proud member. Now, he’s ready to bring that fight to the Travis County Democratic Party.
