MESSAGE FROM TCDP STAFF
We have been honored to serve under the Chairmanship of Chris Elliott for
the past four years. As Chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, Chris
was always accessible and supportive to us and to all Democrats. We will
miss him greatly.
On Tuesday evening, May 13 the Travis County Democratic Party invites you to
a fun, fundraising event as we thank Chris Elliot for his great service to
the County! This will be held at the lovely Old Schoolhouse here in East
Austin built in 1876. Jimmy LaFave will be our musical guest along with
many of our Democratic Elected Officials, Candidates and Special Guests as
we pay tribute to Chris.
Even though we are sad to see Chris leave, we are excited to be working with
the new Chair of the Party, Andy Brown. He has hit the ground running as we
are starting our Democratic Coordinated Campaign earlier than ever before.
Travis County Democrats are lucky to have him aboard.
See you Tuesday!
Democratically yours,

MARK STRAMA CAMPAIGN ACADEMY
Campaign Academy brings together college and high school students to learn
the nuts and bolts of a grassroots political campaign - and to put what they
learn into practice. Following an intensive, two-day training "boot camp"
at the beginning of the program, the students become an integral part of the
campaign for the remainder of the summer, supporting all aspects of the
campaign's field, communications, fundraising, and internet strategies.
Daily lunch speakers visit with the students and provide them exposure to
every dimension of politics and government. Lunch speakers include current
and former elected officials, journalists, policy experts, academics,
political consultants, and bloggers. This summer, for the first time,
Campaign Academy will operate throughout Travis County, providing support
not only to my campaign but to the entire Democratic ticket in Travis
County.

BECOME A TCDP SUSTAINING MEMBER!
Since 2004, seven Republican-held offices within Travis County have switched
to Democrats, and now, there are only four Republicans left and one of those
was just appointed by Rick Perry last September! As you can see, the TCDP
has stepped up to make Travis County even more Democratic!
Sustaining members are our lifeblood. They are the reason that we are open
year-round (one of only five county parties in Texas that stay open
year-round), have two full-time staff members, and our work has been so
successful. We do not receive any funds from the national or state parties!
Stand with us and other Travis County residents and support TCDP by becoming
a Member. We have two levels of membership:
Sustaining: minimum of $10.00 per month or $120.00 annually.
Finance Council: minimum of $84.00 per month or $1,000.00 annually.
Members at this level receive prominent listing in our publications and web
site as well as at Travis County Democratic Party functions along with free
admission to TCDP sponsored events.
The Travis County Democratic Party is dependent on your generosity for
everything we do!
To join the Travis County Democratic Party go online to:

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL
AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and
presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has
a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not
only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to
avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or
no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and
legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to
read.
AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive
too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial
acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.
Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list
hosted by our web host, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If
this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.
You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you
chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email
address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be
careful when deleting messages.
