[Travis County Democratic Party Weekly Newsletter]

Dear Democrats,

 

You may have noticed that you have not received the TCDP Weekly E-Newsletter over the last two weeks.  Well, after the tremendous turnout at the March 4 Precinct Conventions, the Travis County Democratic Party found itself faced with the herculean task of hosting the largest county convention in Texas while also getting ready to hold a Primary Runoff Election.  In other words, we had over 13,000 names that came from the 210 precinct convention packets to decipher and enter into our database in a short amount of time.  To put this into perspective, at TCDP's 2004 County Convention we had about 1,300 attendees.

 

The TCDP is thankful for the many data entry volunteers and the temps we had to hire who worked many, many hours everyday since the Primary so we will know whether you are a delegate or an alternate.  Because it has often been difficult to leave the office due to the amount of work getting ready for this county convention, the staff and volunteers are grateful to all the nice folks who have fed us and run Party errands over the last couple of weeks.

There is also some general information concerning the county convention on our home page.

 

Starting tomorrow, we will be adding more information on the front of the web site answering such questions as:

WHAT DO I NEED TO PRESENT AT SIGN-IN?

 

I HAVE A NOTE FROM A DELEGATE APPOINTING ME (AN ALTERNATE) TO REPLACE HIM/HER  .  WHAT DO I DO?

 

HOW DO DELEGATION CHAIRS KNOW WHO IS MISSING?

 

I'VE BEEN ELEVATED FROM ALTERNATE TO DELEGATE.  WHAT NOW?

 

I'M COMING IN THE AFTERNOON.  HOW WILL I GET MY CREDENTIAL?

 

We also will be sending out via this Newsletter list and emails to delegates and alternates (if they provided an email on the sign-in sheets) with daily alerts about Saturday's convention.

 

We are looking forward to seeing you at the largest Democratic County/Senatorial District Convention in Texas!
