The best way of helping our great State Representatives is by becoming a Precinct Chair. Won't you help them today?

You, YES YOU, can have an impact at the state capitol and on national politics! Take a look at some of this information:

-It's no secret that Travis County is depended upon by statewide candidates to put them in a position to win because Travis County is so heavily Democratic.

-One-term Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn continues to be unpopular. He consistently polls way under 50% in Texas. He has been called the "least popular U.S. Senator" in the group of Republican Senators who are up for re-election in 2008.

-Two parts of Travis County are still represented by Republican Congressmen.

Get involved now and you can help make the following happen:

-Keep all of our Democratic state reps in office while other parts of the state elect more Democrats to take back the Texas House

-Put our candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in a position to win to continue changing the politics in Washington DC!

The best way of getting involved is by becoming a Precinct Chair! Make your voice heard in how your county party is run! All Democratic Precinct Chairs in Travis County automatically become members of the County Executive Committee (CEC), which is the governing body for Travis County Democratic Party. In addition, you'll receive all the support you need to turn out the Democrats to vote in your neighborhood. With everything happening so quickly, your leadership was needed YESTERDAY!

COORDINATED CAMPAIGN WEEKLY UPDATE

Thank you for attending the East Austin Block Party! There was great music, food and Democratic fellowship with over 300 folks showing up on a hot, July evening!

We have registered our 1000th person this week! There are many folks in Travis County who are either registered at a place other than where they live or they are not registered at all. Join our all-volunteer voter registration drive to get those people registered to vote! We begin each shift at the TCDP HQ at 1107 N I-35. Volunteers are trained, formed into teams, and sent to fun locations across Austin. All materials are provided and locations are chosen for their high volume of likely Democratic voters.

Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Saturday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Wednesday 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Wednesday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

If you want to register voters, we offer voter registrar deputization every Saturday at noon. Otherwise, volunteers can go to the Travis County Tax Office at 5501 Airport Blvd to be deputized. Questions? Email Katherine Haenschen, Voter Registration Coordinator, at

keh303 at gmail.com

Travis County Coordinated Campaign Democratic Issues/Policy Meet-Up

And the Monday evening 'Issues Meetings' are turning into the place to be!

Featured guests in previous weeks have been State Representative Valinda Bolton who spoke about the importance of protecting the suburban environment through improved County involvement and Larry Joe Doherty, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress who spoke about the importance of Veterans' Rights, pointing out that his opponent, Michael McCaul, voted to cut $ 20 Billion from the Veterans' budget in 2005-2006.

Monday night's agenda features Kathy Miller, President of the Texas Freedom/Faith Network who will be discussing the language of communicating ideas, issues and policies to others, i.e. how Democrats can improve our communication skills in expressing our message to the voting public.

BECOME A TCDP SUSTAINING MEMBER!

Since 2004, seven Republican-held offices within Travis County have switched to Democrats, and now, there are only four Republicans left and one of those was just appointed by Rick Perry last September! As you can see, the TCDP has stepped up to make Travis County even more Democratic!

Sustaining members are our lifeblood. They are the reason that we are open year-round (one of only five county parties in Texas that stay open year-round), have two full-time staff members, and our work has been so successful. We do not receive any funds from the national or state parties!

Stand with us and other Travis County residents and support TCDP by becoming a Member. We have two levels of membership:

Sustaining: minimum of $10.00 per month or $120.00 annually.

Finance Council: minimum of $84.00 per month or $1,000.00 annually. Finance Council Members of the Travis County Democratic Party constitute those who contribute a minimum of $1,000 total in annual contributions separate and above any contributions for a TCDP sponsored event or for the TCDP biennial Coordinated Campaign. Finance Council members receive prominent listing on our website and in our publications as well as at Travis County Democratic Party functions. Free general admission to TCDP sponsored events is also a member benefit.

The Travis County Democratic Party is dependent on your generosity for everything we do!

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL

AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to read.

AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.

Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list hosted by our web host, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.

You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be careful when deleting messages.
