A MESSAGE FROM THE TCDP PARTY OFFICE

Dear Travis County Democratic Party Supporters:

Good news! The TCDP staff (Garry Brown and myself) have just spent the
better part of the past week moving our office from its former one room
location to a more suitable three room layout. Or I should say we have
expanded as we are actually keeping our older space and expanding into the
new suite which is right next door. Yes, we didn't have to move far! Our
new physical address is 1311 East 6th; our former address was 1311-B East
6th and it will now be known as 'The Annex'.

Those of you might remember that the TCDP was in this suite at 1311 about
six years ago. We attempted to secure it when we moved back to East Austin
in December 2004 yet it was not available so we made do with the far smaller
office next door hoping that one day, we would be able to gain the larger
office space again. When this larger space recently became available, and
with the continued support of all our good Finance Council and Sustaining
Members, we were able to afford the increased rent. And even better news is
that by keeping the smaller space, too, we can finally quit leasing the
storage unit we have in far south Austin. This saves us time and gas on
constant trips out to obtain needed items from storage in addition to the
nearly $100 rent we are paying on that unit.

We are not quite finished with the move and set up but we are almost there
and couldn't be more excited as the new office has such exciting amenities
as ample electrical outlets and access to the thermostat .. sometimes it's
the little things in life that can add so much. But seriously, we will have
more room to conduct the upcoming Primary and be able to move into next
year's Coordinated Campaign with ample volunteer space in The Annex.

If you're out and about in the area, always feel free to drop by. And
again, a sincere thank you to our membership because without your support,
we would not have been able to accomplish this much needed move.

Democratically yours,

Elizabeth Yevich

TCDP Executive Director

ATTENTION ALL POTENTIAL CANDIDATES

As the 2008 March Primary draws closer, the TCDP asks that all who
anticipate filing for office during the official filing period next December
call or e-mail the TCDP with your current contact info to include campaign
mailing address, e-mail, phone number(s), web address, campaign manager,
etc. The Party office has already begun receiving calls from local Dem
Clubs and Organizations who would like to add candidate names to their
contact lists and we would like to be able to assist these organizations
with as complete a list as possible. But we cannot provide correct
information if we have not first been notified of your intent to run being
provided updated contact information.

Thank you. TCDP Staff: 477-7500 or info at traviscountydemocrats.org

CAN YOU WORK 3-5 ELECTIONS OVER THE NEXT YEAR?

The most important item at the TCDP right now is to submit a comprehensive
list of term-appointed Presiding Judges (a.k.a. Election Judges, the folks
who work at your polling locations on Election Day) for a one-year term,
August 1, 2007 - July 31, 2008. There will be approximately 3-5 elections
during this one year term depending upon where you live and whether there
will be any run-off elections.

You must live in the precinct in which you work and you will be asked to
work every election that is determined for your precinct. This means
working the March party primary yet also includes elections for city
council, independent school district boards, Austin Community College board,
bond and state constitutional elections, etc. In short, you will represent
the Travis County Democratic Party at party primaries, but you are expected
to work, if possible, each and every election. Pay for the primary is set
by the Texas Secretary of State. Currently the hourly rate for the 2008
Primary is $7.00/hour. All other election pay is $10/hour for
presiding/alternate judges.

TCDP is now putting together a supplemental term-appointed list that can be
submitted to the County Commissioners' no later than October because of the
state constitutional election on November 6, 2007. We currently have 78
positions filled but we need 215 total. In other words, we are at 36% of
having these spots filled but we would certainly like to achieve over 50% if
not 100%.

And here is another reason to keep in mind why we need folks to sign up to
be a Presiding Judge:

If we do not find people to work these polling locations and the county
election folks have to help us recruit judges, the TCDP will be charged a
hefty fee. For the 2006 Primary, the TCDP was charged more for this service
than the Travis County Republican Party. We simply do not want that to
happen again. We are sure that you would agree that the TCDP should spend
more of its money reaching Democratic voters than recruiting judges during
January and February of next year!

Election Judges are needed in the following precincts:

105 106 107 111 112 113 123 132 137 140 141 145 153 154 156

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL

AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and
presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has
a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not
only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to
avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or
no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and
legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to
read.

AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive
too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial
acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.

Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list
hosted by our web host, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If
this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.

You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you
chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email
address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be
careful when deleting messages.
