LETTER FROM THE CHAIR
Dear Fellow Democrats:
This past week, I have had the pleasure of interacting with Boyd Richie,
Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, in a couple of different venues.
This past Tuesday was a fundraiser for the Party at the Austin Club, which
was well attended and was a salute to Democratic elected officials. I was
struck by the size of the crowd and the energy in the room. And the event
was a financial success, raising well over $100,000 for TDP. In addition,
Chairman Richie attended, at our request, the TCDP Executive Committee
meeting last night. He spent well over an hour talking to those present
about the efforts at TDP to reach out to all areas of the state and to
re-energize the Party everywhere. Listening to him, one could not help but
feel that good things are ahead for our Party on a statewide basis. This is
a result, I think, of increased financial resources for the party, from a
number of sources, including the DNC, as well as some good leadership from
Chairman Richie and elected officials across the State.
And speaking of leadership, I attended a tribute to Pete Laney yesterday,
which was put on by the Center for Public Policy Priorities. Listening to
Speaker Laney, and those who spoke in his honor, it reminded me that, unlike
the current occupant of the Speakers chair, we do have honest and honorable
leaders in this state who are concerned with and work for the well being of
all Texans, not just the moneyed special interests that line their campaign
coffers. It was so wonderful to be reminded of what a true statesman
Speaker Laney was and it gave hope that we will soon see more like him in
positions of great power, such as Speaker of the House. And it reinforced
to me that we have to continue working hard to make sure that this happens.
Keep the faith fellow Democrats. Great times are a comin.
Democratically yours,
Chris Elliott

DONT TAG TEXAS PROTEST ON FRIDAY, MARCH 2
Friday, March 2, 2007
1:30pm
Cesar Chavez and Red River Streets
Join the Don't Tag Texas March to the Capitol to protest the Trans-Texas
Corridor and the National Animal Identification System (NAIS).
The Texas Legislature will be considering bills to address both the National
Animal Identification System and the Trans-Texas Corridor, and our elected
officials need to hear from the people! A parade of tractors, horses, and
people will drive, ride, and walk up Congress Avenue to the Capitol. People
will then gather on the steps of the Capitol for speakers.
These two programs would devastate Rural Texas and Texas Agriculture. There
will be speakers and a musical performance by Jimmie Vaughan.
For more information, please call 1-866-687-6452.

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL
AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and
presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has
a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not
only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to
avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or
no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and
legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to
read.
AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive
too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial
acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.
Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list
hosted by our web host, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If
this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.
You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you
chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email
address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be
careful when deleting messages.
