MESSAGE FROM CHRIS ELLIOTT, CHAIR TRAVIS COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Dear Fellow Democrats:
I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you that sent
cards and emails and called me while I was in the hospital and
recuperating afterward with my hip surgery. I am happy to report that the
surgery went well and I am healing nicely. I look forward to being back to
full speed and pain free in a few weeks. But I want you to know how much it
meant to me to hear from so many of you. It reminds me of what a close knit
group we Travis County Democrats really are.
As we head into 2007, I hope you will join me in offering best wishes to our
stellar, all-Democratic delegation as they begin the arduous task of
representing Travis County and citizens of the entire State of Texas in the
upcoming legislative session. Having worked for a state senator in a
previous life, I understand how difficult and draining their jobs really
are. The hours are long, the work is hard and they are paid very little for
their efforts. We owe them all a debt of gratitude and our support as the
session begins next week.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to sharing
a great 2007 with all of you.
Democratically yours,
Chris Elliott

THE 80TH LEGISLATIVE SESSION AT THE TEXAS CAPITOL OPENS TUESDAY, JANUARY 9
The 2007 Legislative Session begins at noon with the swearing in of the
State House of Representatives and State Senate. Arrive early to get a seat
in the gallery; ceremony is set to begin at noon. The House should be
particularly interesting due to the race for Speaker.

celebrate our victories in 2006
and get ready for even more in the coming
years. Admission is free for Democrats! AND parking is free in the Comerica

Please Join Annie's List and the Democratic Women of the Texas Legislature
for a Swearing-In & Victory Celebration!
There is much to celebrate. Annie's List has helped elect eight new
pro-choice Democratic women to the Texas Legislature in the last three years
and five of those were in just the last 12 months! With these ladies taking
their oath of office on January 9th, a party the night before was definitely
in order.
They have booked a live musical performance by the Asylum Street Spankers
(who are hilarious and politically astute on top of musically talented) as
well as a BBQ buffet with plenty of beer and cocktails. A great time will be
had by all!

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL
AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and
presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has
a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not
only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to
avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or
no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and
legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to
read.
AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive
too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial
acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.
Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list
hosted by our webhost, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If
this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.
You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you
chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email
address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be
careful when deleting messages.
