A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
Dear Fellow Democrats:
I know that you all join me in mourning the passing of Ann Richards. What a great lady, great public servant, and great Democrat she was. Our hearts, prayers, and best wishes go out to her family.
Ann Richards stood for everything that is good about public service. She worked so hard to truly represent the people, all of the people that she served. As governor, she appointed unprecedented numbers of women and minorities to high level government positions. She never met a stranger and welcomed one and all, from the mighty and powerful to everyday folk, into her office. Most importantly, she listened to what people had to say. What a wonderful way to govern, and oh how we miss her way of governing today.
I have a number of wonderful memories of personal interactions with Governor Richards. However, the one that I want to share with all of you in this message is one that occurred fairly recently. As you all know, Ann was a great supporter of the Travis County Democratic Party. After the announcement of her illness, I did not seek her help with any local events or other issues associated with the County Party. I did not want to bother her. However, she recently sent word to me that she was "disappointed" that I had not called upon her recently to help with anything. What a wonderful lady. Even in a time of great difficulty for her, she let it be known that she wanted to help Travis County Democrats.
Ann, you will be missed, but never forgotten.
Democratically yours,
Chris Elliott

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL
AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to read.
AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.
Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list hosted by our webhost, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.
You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be careful when deleting messages.
