SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM CHRIS ELLIOTT, CHAIR, TRAVIS COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Dear Fellow Democrats:

As we enter the stretch run toward the November 7 election, we all need to consider whether we have done our part, and done enough, to help our Democratic candidates. This election presents wonderful opportunities, from the U.S. Senate and House and governor's races on down the ballot, for Democrats to take back seats held by Republicans. We don't want to look back on November 8 and wonder if we did everything that we could to win every race on the ballot. So, take stock, think of the stakes, and do something between now and November 7 to help a Democratic candidate.

Thank you.

Democratically yours,

Chris Elliott

P.S. - Below is the text of a Press Advisory about our Truly Blue Victory Party on Election Night. Please come and celebrate with us.

Austin, October 26 -- Chris Elliott, Chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, invites all Democrats and other like-minded individuals to their Truly Blue Victory Party on November 7 where they will be watching local, state, and national returns while celebrating what promises to be a strong election for Democrats. The perfect storm continues to build momentum for Democrats as they are poised to pick up seats in Travis County and elsewhere. Party Chair Elliott expects a festive evening on Tuesday, November 7. "All indicators are that this election will be one of the strongest for Democrats in recent memory, not only in Travis County but across the state and nationally. There should be a lot of cheering going on at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel as we watch the returns."

EARLY VOTING HAS BEGUN!!!

Early voting began on Monday, October 23 and will run through Friday, November 3.

YOU MAY VOTE AT ANY EARLY VOTING LOCATION!!!

Special Message about the Congressional Races in District 21 and 25!!!
If a voter selects straight-party ticket for the rest of the statewide races, you still have to check a box specifically to select a candidate for the U.S. congressional race. If no box is checked in that race, the ballot won't register a vote for any congressional candidate.

Special Message about the Governor's Race!!!
There is no runoff in this 4-way race. Whoever gets the most votes wins. This means that the winner can become Governor with only 35% of the vote. So make sure that you vote for the ONLY candidate who can beat Rick Perry...Chris Bell!

UPDATE FROM THE AWARD WINNING TCDP TrueBlueTravis COORDINATED CAMPAIGN

You have put out 200,000 voter registration cards. You have registered thousands of new voters and thousands of previously registered folks are now registered where they currently live. You have voted early.

NOW, let's make sure that other Democrats vote early. As of Wednesday, October 25, almost 20,000 people in Travis County have voted already! This represents a larger turnout so far over 2002:

2002, first three days of early voting= 12974

2006, first three days of early voting= 19370

This represents an increase of 49.2% turnout over 2002...ALREADY!!!

The Biggest Get-Out-The-Vote Effort in Travis History. Ever. Be a part of it! Help us leaflet every Democratic door in Travis County!

In 2006, with your help, we're gonna do something we've never done before in Travis County, even during Presidential years. We intend to have a GOTV flyer telling how to use the voting machines, where to vote early, candidate information, as well as a Democratic message on every single door of every single house with any Democratic history in any neighborhood that's either walkable or drivable. Kinda like yours. (And hey, while we're walking to Dems, we don't have to walk past that general election voter household, we'll set you up with local candidate pushcards and lit to drop off at those houses, too.)

We've broken up a huge majority of the county into very walkable areas of all sizes. Most people can hit between 50-100 doors per hour. So we've got some lists with 50 households, some with 100, 150, 200, on up to apartment complexes as well for the diehards out there. But we need your help. We can't do it alone. Do you go on a morning walk? Put a backpack on and do your neighborhood. However many doors you want, we'll provide you with maps, leafleting lists indicating general and Democratic voting households, instructions, flyers, and the answers to any questions you need to ask.

So you're probably saying to yourself, "Ok, I'm in. So what do I do now?" All you've gotta do is come by our HQ at 505 Willow, let us know what area of town you're in, down to the precinct or even street, and we'll get your materials together for you. Or think of it like take-out-call ahead (512-476-5100) and we'll get your order ready. Can't get here, but can walk your neighborhood? Let us know and we'll get materials to you. Are you willing to help deliver materials to volunteers in your part of town if needed? Again, let us know.

Can't walk? Help us pay for flyers. $100 pays for 2,000 flyers, or the size of an average precinct.

To Donate, please go to www.traviscountydemocrats.org and click on 'Donate' from the menu on the left-hand side of the page. Please state in the comments box that your contribution is for "TBT Flyers."

Margaret Mead famously once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

With lots of individuals each contributing a small amount of time and effort, we can accomplish something together in Travis County that has never been done before. Are you with us?

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL

AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to read.

AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.

Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list hosted by our webhost, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.

You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be careful when deleting messages.
