A MESSAGE FROM CHRIS ELLIOTT, CHAIR TRAVIS COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Dear Democrats,

Did you watch the gubernatorial debate last Friday night? If you did, it should now be clear to you why Chris Bell should be the next Governor of the State of Texas.

Chris clearly articulated his vision for the State of Texas and the reasons why we desperately need a change in the Governor's office. And if you watched the debate closely, you couldn't help but notice that Rick Perry did not look at any other candidate until his closing statement. And then, he addressed his remarks to Chris Bell.

Rick Perry knows that Chris Bell is his only viable opponent. And with the recent very generous campaign contributions he has received, Chris is poised to close the gap between him and Rick Perry in the last month of this campaign.

If Rick Perry wins this race, we may never get rid of him. He has already, quite presumptuously, announced that he will run for re-election in 2010. Let's not give him that opportunity. Let's put a stop to the Rick Perry nightmare right now and rally behind our Democratic nominee, Chris Bell.

Early voting begins in 11 days.let's make sure that it marks the beginning of the end for Rick Perry and the start of a new, brighter day for Texas. Chris Bell has the momentum and the money. It's time to get on the Bell Bandwagon.

Democratically yours,

Chris Elliott, Chair

Travis County Democratic Party

TRAVIS COUNTY ELECTIONS NEED PRESIDING JUDGES

Thank you to those of you who have stepped up to fill these spots! We still need a Presiding Judge at Covington Middle School (3700 Convict Hill Rd.) and a person in reserve for Travis High (1211 Oltorf St.), Dobie Middle (1200 E. Rundberg Ln.), O'Henry Middle (2610 W. 10th St.), and Covington Middle Schools.

The work is done at the above locations the evening of November 7, 6:00pm till about 10:00pm or 10:30pm, depending upon how soon the precinct boxes come through. The pay is $6.00/hour.

Presiding judges look after Democratic interests, making sure that everything arriving from the polling locations is in order at the receiving sub stations where ballot boxes are returned after the polls close.

By helping Democrats turn out the vote for these terrific State House officials and candidates in your neighborhood, you are not only electing these fine folks, but also the other Democrats on the ballot.

You can ask that an appointment be made by the TCDP Executive Committee (which is made up of all the current precinct chairs) to fill an unexpired term; terms are two years from May 2006-May 2008. We promise to put you to work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Travis County and make our home even more BLUE!

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL

AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has a "Report Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to read.

AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.

Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list hosted by our webhost, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.

You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be careful when deleting messages.
