2006 TCDP COORDINATED CAMPAIGN GRAND OPENING
Mark your calendar for Thursday July 20th for the official opening of the 2006 Travis County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Headquarters. We are calling the campaign True Blue Travis (www.truebluetravis.com)
Our administrative office will stay at 1311-B East 6th Street and the True Blue Travis Coordinated Campaign office will be at 505 Willow St., which is off Red River one block south of Cesar Chavez, directly south of the Convention Center.
Sandra Ramos, Campaign Coordinator: sandra at traviscountydemocrats.org
Glen Maxey, Campaign Field Director: glen at traviscountydemocrats.org
Phone numbers are:
477-7500 TCDP Administrative Office
476-5100 TCDP Coordinated Campaign/True Blue Travis Headquarters
*** all volunteers, please call the campaign number! **
Here's what we really could use this week: someone to 'diagnose' computers that have been given to us to see if they are useable for work stations for the phone bank -- and then help us set them up if they are usable!
And here's what we still need:
-- more computers. These will be used as phone bank stations for online phonebanking. If you can get to the internet if they're plugged in, we can use them! Donations or loaners through November are welcome.
-- we're building work stations for all our campaigns and volunteers, and we'll be doing lots of "tabling" for voter registration so we can use any small folding tables that can go into a trunk or back seat. Donations or loaners are welcome.
If you're looking for some steady volunteer work and enjoy computer work, we have lots of data work you can do NOW.
Call 476-5100!

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT-- GET INVOLVED!!!
The 23rd Annual National Night Out (NNO) is Tuesday, August 1, 2006. NNO is designed to:
a.. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
b.. Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
c.. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
d.. Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.
This is a terrific opportunity for Democrats, especially precinct chairs, to meet and get to know neighbors in a friendly, nonsectarian, nonpartisan way while serving and unifying community that can only help build your credibility and influence when issues and candidates are discussed later. AND IT'S FUN!!! Make it a tradition to show up with voter registration cards to welcome new residents, and invite elected officials who visit as many parties that night as they can. Be nonpartisan and invite all candidates in the races that matter in your neighborhood. The better voters get to know the candidates, the more likely they are to choose Democrats and the more likely they would help you in organizing your neighborhood.
Details for City of Austin residents are below. Similar processes are available in virtually every city in the county and in the unincorporated areas through the Travis County Sheriff's Department.
Tuesday August 1 - NATIONAL NIGHT OUT! Celebrate a safe neighborhood outside with neighbors from 7 PM - 10 PM.
CONTACT INFORMATION:
If you live in the City of Austin, see http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/nno.htm or contact Rosie Salinas at the
Community Liaison Office at (512) 974-4900 or by e-mail at nno at ci.austin.tx.us.
The national website http://www.nno.org/nno has registration and information about events and resources for celebrations everywhere.

TO SUBSCRIBERS WHO USE AOL
AOL has become increasingly difficult for independent Internet services and
presence providers like ours to work with. The AOL mail user interface has a "Report
Spam" button immediately adjacent to the "Delete" button, and not only does this make it hard for many inexperienced (and elderly) users to avoid hitting the "Report Spam" button, but AOL apparently makes little or no attempt to educate its user base on distinguishing between spam and legitimate list posts to which they have subscribed but may not wish to read.
AOL tracks each "Report Spam" it receives from subscribers. If they receive too many complaints from our service, email will be subject to substantial acceptance delays or rejection by AOL's mail servers.
Each time an AOL user hits the "Report Spam" button on a post from a list hosted by our webhost, we receive a "Client TOS Notification" from AOL. If this happens, you will be automatically unsubscribed from the list.
You are free to re-subscribe your address to our lists; however, if you chose to do so, please take the time to use caution or obtain an email address, such as a gmail address, from a different provider. Please be careful when deleting messages.
