The Johnson Bentsen Richards Dinner

Monday, February 19th, 2018

Please join us for the 2018 Johnson Bentsen Richards Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin.

2018 JBR Dinner
Four Season Hotel
98 San Jacinto Blvd.
5:30 PM – VIP Reception
6:30 – Dinner

The JBR Dinner is our marquee fundraising event and helps sustain our efforts year-round. It honors three Texans, reminding us of our state’s strong, Democratic legacy:

  • Lyndon B. Johnson – 36th President of the United States
  • Lloyd Bentsen – Four-term U.S. Senator and 1988 Vice Presidential nominee
  • Ann Richards – 45th Governor of Texas

We are committed to extending their legacy by electing and supporting Democrats at the local, state, and national level, and championing Democratic causes in the state and federal legislature.

Our 2018 JBR Honoree is Richard Overton. At 111, Overton is the oldest living war veteran (and man!) in the United States. He is a native of Bastrop County, and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He currently lives in East Austin on Richard Overton Avenue.

This year we are honored to have Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton as our keynote speaker. Congressman Moulton joined the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after graduating from Harvard University with a B.S. in Physics. He served four tours in Iraq and then returned to Harvard to complete graduate degrees in Business and Public Policy. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an invigorating evening with Travis County’s most engaged Democrats.

The JBR Dinner also serves as an opportunity to honor dedicated public servants in Travis County. The Kirk P. Watson Service Award is presented to a local leader who goes above and beyond the call of duty to champion our Democratic values of equality, security, freedom, responsibility, and opportunity.

The upcoming midterm elections are vital to our country’s future. We hope you will join us at the highest level you can, ensuring that Travis County has the funding necessary to lead the way towards a brighter, and bluer future for Texas. Your contribution will go directly towards the opening of a Coordinated Campaign Office in the spring, developing and printing marketing materials to support an East-West strategy, and paying our hard-working staff for their efforts.

Thank you, and see you on February 19th,

Vincent Harding, County Chair
