Let’s get it going on down here!
Fellow Democrats,
It’s not every day one gets to have an audience with the President of The United States, but last week in Austin I was given that honor. I had all sorts of plans for what I wanted to discuss with President Obama — his great accomplishments, the 2012 campaign, Texas politics in general.
Unfortunately, all that came out was, “I’m the Democratic County Chair here.”
Of course, President Obama didn’t miss a beat. He raised his hand for a high-five and said, with a determined smile and his trademark upbeat cadence, but by no means in a kidding manner: “Well, let’s get it going on down here!”
Thankfully, my brain didn’t trip over the response: “Well, alright. Let’s do it!” Oh, and the high-five was a success.
Looking back at that good-humored moment, I’ve realized that President Obama made a great point. It doesn’t matter what we did or what happened in 2008, 2010 or in any other previous election. What matters today is that we get it going on right now. It’s up to you to make that commitment, to take the President’s advice and really get it going on in Texas.
Sign up now to become a Sustaining Member of the Travis County Democratic Party. For just $20 per month you will help us make it all the way to Election Day in November.

Let’s show President Obama what Travis County can really accomplish. Help me get it going on in Austin, in Travis County and in Texas. We can only do it with your help.
PS: Early voting is underway for the Democratic Primary Runoff. Cast your ballot at any of these convenient locations until Friday. Please vote!!
Sincerely,
