Message from the Chair:

Andy Brown, TCDP Chair

New precinct chairs, great TCDP energy!

December 5th, 2011

Andy Brown

Fellow Democrats,

At last week’s County Executive Committee meeting, several people commented about the energy that was buzzing around our Democratic Party that night! It was nice to be around so many passionate and actively involved people who are already feeling good about the 2012 elections.

More than 60 of us packed the auditorium at the AFL-CIO. We had a lively pizza-and-petition-signing party first, followed by our regular meeting. We welcomed 11 new precinct chairs to the CEC, and I want to personally acknowledge and thank them:

Mr. Craig Moore – Precinct 111

Ms. Cynthia Douglas – Precinct 121

Mr. Marshall Mitchell – Precinct 161

Mr. Ronak Rahman – Precinct 226

Ms. Faye Harris – Precinct 228

Mr. Michael Nink – Precinct 243

Ms. Gayle Owens – Precinct 303

Ms. Carol Austin – Precinct 352

Ms. Karen Hadden – Precinct 364

Mr. Chad Peevy – Precinct 430

Ms. Erikeyounda Hamilton – Precinct 446

And Since September, we also have added these new precinct chairs to our roster:

Dr. Herman Prager – Precinct 379

Ms. Dona Avery Tabrizi – Precinct 336

Ms. Elaina Fowler – Precinct 444

Mr. Blake Rocap – Precinct 240

Of course, I appreciate all of our precinct chairs, but it’s good to see so many newcomers bring fresh energy to the mix.

Our candidate-filing period continues until December 15th. We’ve already had lots of great candidates come to our office and file for the March 6th primary. You can see the list of candidates for Travis County here and the statewide list for the Texas Democratic Party candidates here.

Remember, the TCDP & OFA Holiday Party will be at my house on December 15th! We will celebrate and help downtown homeless people served by Trinity Center. Their wish list is simple: sleeping bags, jackets, socks, hats and gloves, cash donations. You can drop them off at our office or bring them to the party. If you need more incentive to participate, read today’s interview with Trinity Center Executive Director Irit Umani in today’s “On the Record with Diane Holloway.”

And if you would like to bring something to share at the party, please bring beverages, hard or soft!

Sincerely,
